Buses

A public bus service operates between both the Port Lucaya marketplace and the International Bazaar to the downtown area, and from downtown to the outlying areas of West End and East End. The one-way fares are: $1 within the Freeport/Lucaya area; $1.50 to Eight Mile Rock; $4 to West End; $8 to McLean's Town. Exact change is required.

Ferries

There is a free ferry service between Sweeting's Cay and McLean's Town, as follows:

• Depart Sweeting's Cay - 7.10am / Arrive McLean's Town - 7.30am
• Depart McLean's Town - 8.30am
• Depart Sweeting's Cay - 4pm
• Depart McLean's Town - 5pm

Scooters

Motor scooters can be rented from most hotels and at the Port Lucaya marketplace. Scooter hire is approximately $35 per day, with a $200 deposit for a two-seater. Half a tank of petrol is supplied by the rental agency and there is no mileage charge. Insurance is included. A valid driving licence is required and, by law, drivers and passengers must wear helmets, which are supplied free by the agency.

Taxicabs can be found at Grand Bahama International Airport, Lucayan Harbour and major hotel and tourist locations.
