June to November is the hurricane season, but for the benefit of holidaymakers keen to avoid needless cancellations due to inaccurate reporting of information on hurricanes, many hoteliers in The Bahamas have instituted a Hurricane Hotel Policy which states that visitors who cancel a Bahamas holiday during a hurricane will receive an immediate refund with no penalties.
If you are caught on-island during a hurricane, hoteliers will extend the lowest possible rate and all possible courtesies. If you have booked your holiday through a Tour Operator, please check their policies on hurricanes prior to booking.
The Islands of the Bahamas experience rain all year round; however, May to October is the rainy season. The northern islands normally get twice as much rain as the southern islands, with heavy squalls or thunderstorms which clear quickly.
