I've got a real good answer ready when anyone asks me what it's like living here, I say "colourful". It covers just about everything. Being voted Miss Bahamas has meant that I've been able to travel to many places around the world but the pink sand on my favourite playground of Harbour Island (or 'Briland' as we like to say for short) is very special. The beautiful, fine, soft sand is made up of tiny bits of coral and shell which you can see clearly when you look very close.
And jump into the sea and there's the electric-blue tropical fish you'll swim with when you dive the wrecks. "Colourful" is even a great way of describing our brilliant Junkanoo parades when the streets of Nassau are filled with dancers and musicians in their vivid costumes.
As for the local characters you'll meet, they don't come any more colourful than Bonefish Folley and Brendal Stevens. But maybe that's another story.
