Bahamas in the Movies

The Bahamas Film Studios at Gold Rock Creek on Grand Bahama Island is home to one of the world’s largest ‘Open Water Tanks’ and for the last two years it has been the setting for Walt Disney Pictures, “Pirates of The Caribbean 2” starring Johnny Depp and Keira Knightley.

Just as filming came to a close on “Pirates of The Caribbean 2”, Eon Productions “Casino Royale” starring NEW Bond, Daniel Craig, started to roll its’ cameras on location in Nassau.

The Bahamas has everything for successful film production, beautiful locations, the very impressive ‘Open Water Tank’ and a wealth of talent, from costume designers, to set builders. The word coming from Hollywood and independent filmmakers consider the proximity, hospitality and tax-free status a major draw for productions requiring the hot look and turquoise waters.

There are many advantages to filming in The Islands of the Bahamas. See how the Bahamas Film Commission can help make your next shoot a success.
